My most used Chrome extensions 📑

Since I already posted my 16 bookmarks 🔖for every solo programmer article, it’s time to post the extensions I’ve saved over time as a frontend developer.

Allow CORS: Access-Control-Allow-Origin

It lets you easily perform cross-domain Ajax requests in web applications.

I’m sure most of us have at least once had problems with an API call because of CORS. This extension has fixed the problem for me every time in the local environment.

Checkbot: SEO, Web Speed & Security Tester

Checkbot is a powerful website testing tool that tells you how to improve the SEO, page speed and security of your website.

As a developer who didn’t know much about SEO, at the time of creating my personal portfolio this website helped me a lot to generate meta tags for social networks and indexing in google pages.

ColorZilla

Advanced Eyedropper, Color Picker, Gradient Generator and other colorful goodies. With ColorZilla you can get a color reading from any point in your browser, quickly adjust this color and paste it into another program.

I have often found myself liking a color on a website, not having the colors for a client’s design except from jpg’s or in various situations where I would have to guess what color I should use on an application. Many hours have been saved using this extension.

CSS Used

One click to get all the CSS applied to the selected web element and its descendants.

I often found stylizations on CodePen that I really liked but at the time it was hard for me to understand the code written by other developers, so I adapted the formatted code from the browser without having to search for each individual class that does or does not apply to that element.

daily.dev | Where developers grow together

daily.dev is the fastest growing online community for developers to stay updated on the best developer news. Get all the content you love in one place collected from +400 sources.

It’s a good source for keeping up to date with news in the field, as are other specialist sites. The fact that there is an extension that stays active and reminds you every now and then that something new has appeared is even better.

GoFullPage — Full Page Screen Capture

Capture a screenshot of your current page in entirety and reliably — without requesting any extra permissions!

Screenshots of the screen are always useful, but what do you do when you’re not on your phone to scroll and capture the whole screen. This extension does that, you press the button and it automatically scrolls to capture the whole page.

Grayscale the Web — Save Sites

Removes all color from websites, turning them gray. Can be set for specific sites and tabs, or for all sites.

When working on a public website, you have to bear in mind that there is a possibility that it will be visited by visually impaired people.

Screen Recorder

Record a video from the camera or capture it from the screen (desktop, specific application window or browser tab).

When I need to send a video or gif to someone with a flow or animation, it saves me every time.

Tab Suspender

Automatically suspend, park, hibernate inactive tabs and save up to 80% of memory, reduce load on your device, battery and heat.

I’ve used other extensions in the past but the settings you can make when using this one are much more useful.

Bonus: Laser Cat

Shoot laser at things you want to remove from the internet.

I accidentally came across this extension in another article. Have you ever felt you wanted to destroy a website for some reason but couldn’t because you knew you had to fix it? You can do that in a funny and catty way.
